Constructive Use of Communication

Constructive Use of Communication

I am happy to share that I am starting a  series on communication, its constructive use, its dynamics and managing difficult communications. So don’t forget to leave your contacts with me to ensure that you don’t missed out on the articles.

Our Communications daily

Everyday, in social media, as I open my whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, we are bombarded with all kinds of messages, videos on various different things in life from friends, acquaintances and our different social groups and communities. Some messages are about issues in our community, residential areas, friends, family or ex-colleagues and what they are experiencing and doing in their day-to-day life, whatsapp discussions about politics, covid cases etc… We relate and communicate all these gestures and intentions via words, messages, pictures and videos and face to face realtime with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Video calls. We participate by viewing the content of the messages, respond and sharing them along, in this vast web eco system of communication and connection. They have become part and parcel of our everyday life, replacing our physical hellos, smiles, handshakes, and hugs when we meet on the street.

Communication plays a central role in our lives. It is the sole form of interaction between people. Communication gives us life, put a smile on our face and heart, we participate and actively engage and connect with others. We are relational being. We thrive in connecting with others. In us, we are gifted with relational capacities to make successful communication. We are a force in our community, in our family and the world that we are in, through the way that we communicate, through our way of being when we communicate with others. Through communication, we can foster growth, empower others in our relationships, community and within ourselves. Great communication can enrich us, give us life and make our lives more fulfilling. Yet, on the flip side, there can be disrupting elements in communication that affect us and give us stress creating tension in our relational life.

Next week, we will look at the dynamics in our communication interaction that affects the way we relate and its affects on our communication with another or groups. Tune in for more. Thank you for stopping by. Have a great weekend ahead!
